DESIGN BRIEF: Work with Colin Sifferlen to create a modern freestyle sail that is soft, smooth and balanced with a forward drive. The SEVERNE Freestyle sail is a dedicated new school freestyle performer. Throughout the evolution of the freestyle discipline there have been a great deal of changes to the ideal handling characteristics of the perfect freestyle sail. As moves have increased in complexity and speed, so too has the demand for a sail design to power and rotate through the manoeuvres with ease. The SEVERNE Freestyle is designed to deliver the high-end performance required to push the future of new freestyle moves even further. There is minimal low-end torque, and no heavy power snap, which is present in many older fuller designs. Instead Power delivery is efficient and smooth which is preferable as it gives a more consistent power flow when repowered on a new tack or pushed through a Spock 540. With a tight and highly reactive feel, the power is centred right at the front of the foil, which helps you rotate faster and with greater control while keeping your stance upright and balanced through rotational moves. The smoothness of the foil allows it to be pushed from one tack to the other with ease. A physically light sail, it also has a fairly tight leech, which is essential for clew-first moves, and a high foot profile to prevent hindrance when passing under the boom. Pure performance for the most radical riders, the SEVERNE Freestyle is set to push freestyle into the future.
