Severne S-1 ::

It is convincingly brought accross in his new catalogue that Ben Severne is a very good Windsurfer, something he successfully has managed to inject into the product range.
Directly after the launching of the brand in 2004 under Star-Board distribution,
testing of the S-1 "comp" sail is convincing. Although the sail has a flat and hard profile it is easy to pump onto a plane ( Do not overdownhaul!) and never gets backhanded, not even in very gusty conditions. It leans into bottomturns with the same playful ease as it straightens back up, and the freestyle-brigade was enthusiastic about it's flatwater performance.
The full range (4.2-5.7) fits on a four meter mast, convenient and eurosaving.
Verdict
A very inspiring beginning.The S-1 is a radical wavesail for lovers of flat, hard profiles and direct feel. We are waiting in anticipation for the remaining ranges from this Australian designer.
